About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join their procurement department in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role is integral to ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services necessary for the company's operations. You will be involved in sourcing, tendering, and contract management, working closely with various internal stakeholders to meet their purchasing needs. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and implementation of procurement policies and procedures.
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities and financial stability.
- Prepare and issue requests for quotation (RFQs) and tenders, evaluating submissions based on defined criteria.
- Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and address any issues related to delivery or quality.
- Process purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services according to agreed contracts and specifications.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and assist in budget monitoring and cost control activities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a procurement or purchasing support role.
- Understanding of procurement principles, contract terms, and negotiation techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with procurement software.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and internal departments.
- Relevant professional qualifications or a willingness to pursue CIPS certification are advantageous.
