Procurement Specialist - FMCG Raw Materials

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and proactive Procurement Specialist to manage the sourcing and purchasing of raw materials for their FMCG product lines in Edinburgh . This role is vital in ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality ingredients at competitive prices, directly impacting product quality and cost efficiency. You will be responsible for supplier relationship management, negotiation, and risk assessment within the supply chain. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes and a keen eye for detail, essential for navigating the complex demands of the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Source and procure high-quality raw materials and packaging components for FMCG production, meeting specified quality and cost targets.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of suppliers, ensuring reliability and competitive pricing.
• Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements and mitigate risks.
• Monitor market trends, commodity prices, and supplier performance to identify cost-saving opportunities and potential supply chain disruptions.
• Collaborate with the R&D and Quality Assurance teams to ensure sourced materials meet product specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Manage inventory levels of raw materials to ensure continuity of supply while minimizing holding costs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, ideally within the FMCG sector.
• Proven experience in negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics and commodity markets.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems.
