Procurement Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join their dynamic purchasing department in Newcastle upon Tyne . In this role, you will be instrumental in managing day-to-day procurement activities, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, and ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services. You will work closely with a variety of suppliers and internal departments, playing a key role in optimising costs and maintaining supply chain integrity. This hybrid position offers a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility, allowing you to contribute effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute procurement processes, including RFQ/RFP preparation, supplier evaluation, and order placement.
• Manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and resolve any issues that may arise.
• Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the development and implementation of category strategies and sourcing plans.
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities and supplier information within the procurement system.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
• Solid understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain principles.
• Experience with supplier negotiation and contract management is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with procurement software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, essential for collaborating with internal teams and external vendors.
