About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join their busy purchasing department in Nottingham . This role involves managing specific procurement categories, engaging with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services. You will contribute to cost reduction initiatives, supplier performance management, and process improvements within the procurement function. The ideal candidate possesses strong commercial acumen, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners. Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes for assigned categories of goods and services.
- Conduct supplier research, evaluation, and selection, ensuring alignment with company standards and requirements.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve optimal value.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, monitoring their performance and addressing any issues.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand their needs and provide expert procurement advice.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements within the procurement function.
Requirements
- Proven experience (4+ years) in a procurement or purchasing role, with a strong understanding of sourcing and negotiation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage procurement categories effectively and deliver cost savings.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems, along with strong analytical capabilities.
- A degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
