About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to join their dedicated purchasing department in Birmingham . This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services essential for our operations. You will be responsible for managing daily procurement activities, from vendor selection and negotiation to order placement and contract management. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to cost-effectiveness and supply chain reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end procurement process for assigned categories, including RFQ/RFP processes.
• Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on established criteria, including cost, quality, and reliability.
• Negotiate favorable terms and pricing with suppliers, ensuring compliance with contract agreements.
• Process purchase orders accurately and efficiently, resolving any discrepancies or issues that arise.
• Maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role within a purchasing function.
• Solid understanding of procurement principles, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
• Experience with procurement software or ERP systems is essential.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
