Product Development Mechanical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a driven Product Development Mechanical Engineer to join their innovative team, operating remotely and supporting their strategic presence in Bristol . This role is central to conceptualizing, designing, and bringing new mechanical products to market. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and prototyping to testing and manufacturing liaison. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with a strong grasp of mechanical principles and a passion for creating high-quality, user-centric products, all within a flexible, remote work structure.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to production readiness.
• Utilize 3D CAD software and simulation tools to create and validate product designs.
• Conduct thorough design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
• Develop and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical specifications.
• Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, software developers, industrial designers, and manufacturing teams.
• Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation efforts to ensure product performance and reliability.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Expertise in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining), and DFM/DFA.
• Proven experience in taking products from concept through to mass production.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for remote work .
