About the Role
Our client, a market leader in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is looking for an innovative and skilled Product Development Scientist to join their Research & Development team in Bristol . This role is at the heart of creating new and exciting products that meet evolving consumer needs and market trends. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from initial concept and formulation to pilot trials and scale-up, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and commercially viable products. This position is perfect for a scientifically minded individual eager to make a tangible impact on product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new FMCG products from concept to commercialisation, ensuring alignment with consumer needs and business objectives.
- Conduct formulation experiments, optimise product recipes, and perform sensory evaluation.
- Design and execute pilot plant trials and support scale-up activities for manufacturing.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and manufacturing.
- Document research findings, prepare technical reports, and present results to stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies, ingredients, and consumer trends relevant to the FMCG industry.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development , preferably within the FMCG food and beverage industry.
- Strong understanding of formulation science, food chemistry, and processing technologies.
- Experience with sensory evaluation, statistical analysis, and experimental design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a systematic approach to research.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
