Product Development Scientist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Product Development Scientist to join their dedicated R&D team in Bristol , focusing on the FMCG sector. This role is crucial for the ideation, formulation, and launch of new and improved consumer products. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to commercialization, ensuring our products meet consumer needs and market trends. The ideal candidate will possess strong scientific expertise, a creative mindset, and a passion for bringing exciting new products to market within our Bristol facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of new FMCG products from concept generation through to successful market launch.
• Formulate and optimize product recipes, ensuring quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, pilot plant trials, and sensory evaluations to assess product performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure product viability.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant food safety regulations and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges encountered during the product development process.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline; Master's or PhD preferred.
• Proven experience in product development , ideally within the FMCG or food industry.
• Strong understanding of food chemistry, formulation techniques, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent laboratory skills and experience with analytical and sensory testing methods.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality assurance principles.
