Product Development Scientist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and innovative Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Oxford . This role is crucial for the creation and refinement of new and existing products within their diverse FMCG portfolio. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation and formulation to testing and scale-up, ensuring products meet stringent quality, safety, and market requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background and a passion for bringing new and improved consumer products to life in a lab and pilot plant environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development activities to create innovative product formulations that meet consumer needs and business objectives for FMCG products.
• Perform laboratory experiments, pilot plant trials, and finished product testing to evaluate product performance, stability, and quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, supply chain, and quality assurance, throughout the product development process.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to challenges encountered during product development and scale-up.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with relevant industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Document research findings, experimental procedures, and product specifications accurately and comprehensively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development, preferably within the FMCG industry , with a focus on formulation and sensory evaluation.
• Strong laboratory skills and experience with analytical and scientific equipment.
• Knowledge of product development principles, including formulation, processing, and packaging.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous approach to research and documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
