Product Development Scientist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and skilled Product Development Scientist to join their thriving FMCG research and development team in Liverpool . This role is integral to creating new and improved consumer products, focusing on formulation, sensory evaluation, and process optimization. You will be at the forefront of innovation, translating market trends and consumer needs into successful product launches, working within a collaborative environment that values scientific rigor and creative problem-solving to bring exciting new FMCG products to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and formulate new FMCG products from concept to launch, meeting defined product specifications.
• Conduct laboratory-scale experiments and pilot plant trials to optimize formulations and manufacturing processes.
• Perform sensory evaluations and shelf-life testing to ensure product quality and consumer acceptance.
• Collaborate with marketing, regulatory, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during product development and scale-up.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, new ingredients, and innovative technologies in product development.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Product Development within the FMCG industry (e.g., food, beverages, personal care).
• Strong knowledge of formulation science, food chemistry, or related scientific discipline.
• Experience with sensory analysis, statistical analysis, and experimental design.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to product development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
