About the Role
Our client is looking for an innovative and skilled Product Development Scientist to join their R&D team, focusing on new product creation within the FMCG Food sector in Edinburgh . This role is central to bringing new and improved food products to market, from concept generation through to product launch. You will conduct scientific research, formulation development, and product testing to meet consumer needs and business objectives, contributing to the company's reputation for quality and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new food products from concept to commercialization, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct laboratory-scale formulation, ingredient sourcing, and benchtop testing.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new products, collaborating with production teams.
- Perform sensory evaluation and shelf-life studies to ensure product quality and stability.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and consumer insights in the FMCG food market.
- Document all research, development activities, and trial results meticulously.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product development within the FMCG food industry .
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, processing technologies, and ingredient functionality.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and pilot plant trials.
- Excellent scientific understanding and problem-solving capabilities, based in our Edinburgh facility.
