Product Development Scientist - Food

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Product Development Scientist to join their R&D team in Bristol , specializing in food product development for the FMCG market. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, developing, and launching new food products from benchtop to scale-up, ensuring they meet consumer needs and regulatory standards. This role requires a blend of scientific expertise, creativity, and commercial awareness. You will collaborate closely with marketing, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to bring exciting new food concepts to life for consumers across the UK, working from our Bristol facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize and develop new food products based on market trends, consumer insights, and business objectives.
• Conduct laboratory-scale product development, formulation, and sensory evaluation.
• Manage pilot plant trials and support scale-up activities for commercial production.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and quality assurance.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of experience in product development, R&D, or a related role within the food FMCG sector .
• Strong knowledge of food science principles, ingredients, processing techniques, and food safety standards.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and bring them to successful completion.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
