About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Oxford , specializing in the FMCG sector. This role is pivotal in creating new and improved food and beverage products, from concept generation through to commercialisation. You will conduct extensive laboratory work, product testing, and pilot plant trials, ensuring that all developments meet stringent quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the innovation pipeline of a leading FMCG company and work on cutting-edge product formulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of new FMCG products , from initial concept ideation to final product launch, ensuring alignment with market trends and consumer needs.
- Conduct extensive laboratory-based research, formulation, and sensory evaluation to create innovative and high-quality products.
- Plan and execute pilot plant trials, scale-up processes, and manufacturing validation to ensure successful commercialisation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, regulatory affairs, quality assurance, and operations, throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all research, development activities, and product specifications.
- Stay abreast of scientific advancements, industry trends, and competitor activities within the food and beverage product development landscape.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Proven experience in Product Development , preferably within the FMCG industry , with a strong understanding of food/beverage formulation and processing.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative approach to overcoming technical challenges.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
