Product Development Scientist

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and skilled Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Bradford , operating on a hybrid model. This role is central to creating new and improved products within the FMCG sector , focusing on developing formulations that meet consumer needs and market trends. You will conduct laboratory experiments, scale-up processes, and ensure products meet rigorous quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific background, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, manufacturing, and regulatory affairs teams to bring cutting-edge products to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop new product formulations and prototypes according to project briefs.
• Conduct laboratory experiments, including stability testing and performance evaluation.
• Optimise existing product formulations for cost, performance, or sustainability improvements.
• Scale up laboratory processes to pilot and commercial production levels.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product launch strategies and market testing.

Requirements

• Master's degree or PhD in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development , preferably within the FMCG industry .
• Strong understanding of formulation science, ingredient interactions, and processing technologies.
• Excellent laboratory skills and experience with analytical instrumentation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid R&D environment.
