About the Role

Our client, a renowned innovator in the FMCG industry, is seeking a creative and technically skilled Product Development Scientist to join their research and development team in Glasgow . This role is crucial for conceptualizing, formulating, and optimizing new product lines that meet evolving consumer needs and market demands. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from initial ideation and benchtop formulation to pilot-scale production and commercialization support. The ideal candidate possesses a strong scientific background, a passion for innovation, and a keen understanding of consumer product trends within the fast-moving consumer goods arena.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development activities for new and improved consumer products within the FMCG portfolio.
• Develop and optimize product formulations, ensuring efficacy, stability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Perform laboratory experiments, benchtop trials, and pilot-scale studies to validate formulations and processes.
• Collaborate with marketing, regulatory affairs, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Stay current with scientific advancements, ingredient technologies, and market trends relevant to product development.
• Prepare technical documentation, including formulation reports, specifications, and stability study protocols.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Proven experience in product development, ideally within the FMCG sector .
• Strong understanding of formulation science, ingredient functionality, and product testing methodologies.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and techniques relevant to product formulation and analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
