Product Development Technologist - FMCG

About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and technically skilled Product Development Technologist to join their dynamic team in Sheffield , focusing on their exciting FMCG product portfolio. This role involves creating new products and reformulating existing ones to meet consumer needs, market trends, and regulatory requirements. You will work on all stages of product development, from concept generation and formulation to pilot plant trials and scale-up support for manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity for a budding food scientist or technologist to contribute to product innovation within a fast-paced FMCG company.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and reformulate FMCG products according to project briefs, consumer insights, and market trends.
• Conduct laboratory-based product development, including ingredient sourcing, formulation, and benchtop testing.
• Plan and execute pilot plant trials and support scale-up activities in manufacturing.
• Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety standards, legal regulations, and internal quality policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Procurement, and Manufacturing to ensure successful product launches.
• Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, product information, and trial reports.

Requirements

• Experience in product development or a technical role within the FMCG , food, or beverage industry.
• Strong understanding of food science, chemistry, and processing techniques relevant to product development.
• Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC) and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent practical laboratory skills and experience with product formulation and testing.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
