About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and technically skilled Product Development Technologist to join their fast-paced FMCG product development team in Cambridge . This role is critical for driving the creation and launch of new and improved food products, from initial concept through to full-scale production. You will be responsible for recipe development, process optimisation, ensuring product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate technologist to contribute to the innovation pipeline of a leading FMCG company, working within a collaborative and scientifically driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and trial new product recipes and formulations, ensuring they meet technical, quality, and cost targets.
- Optimise existing product formulations and manufacturing processes for improved quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Conduct sensory evaluation, shelf-life testing, and nutritional analysis of new and existing products.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate closely with the NPD team, marketing, procurement, and production to ensure seamless product launches.
- Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and product information for regulatory and commercial use.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Product Development Technologist or similar role within the food/FMCG industry.
- Strong understanding of food science, ingredient functionality, and food manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, BRC) and relevant legislation.
- Excellent practical food preparation and processing skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A degree or HND in Food Science, Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
