About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and technically skilled Product Development Technologist to join their research and development team in Derby , focusing on FMCG products. This role is central to the creation of new and improved food products, from initial concept through to successful market launch. You will conduct experiments, formulate recipes, assess product stability, and ensure products meet all regulatory and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong scientific background, creativity, and a passion for food innovation, working within a dynamic team to bring exciting new FMCG products to consumers, contributing to the company's product pipeline and market leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new FMCG product concepts and recipes, considering market trends, consumer preferences, and technical feasibility.
- Conduct laboratory-scale product trials and scale-up processes to manufacturing level.
- Perform sensory evaluations, shelf-life studies, and nutritional analysis of new and existing products.
- Ensure all product development activities comply with food safety regulations, labelling requirements, and company standards.
- Collaborate with marketing, procurement, and manufacturing teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and process instructions for new products.
Requirements
- Experience as a Product Development Technologist or similar role within the food industry, preferably FMCG.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, food processing techniques, and product formulation.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality control procedures, and labelling laws.
- Excellent practical laboratory skills and experience with product testing methodologies.
- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Degree in Food Science, Technology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
