Production Chemist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to join their operational team in Sheffield , focusing on chemical applications within oil and gas production. This role involves monitoring and optimizing the performance of production chemicals, diagnosing and resolving production chemistry challenges, and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of production facilities. You will work closely with production engineers and field technicians to manage water quality, prevent scale and corrosion, and enhance hydrocarbon recovery. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to apply chemical expertise in a critical sector of the oil and gas industry , based in the industrial heartland of Sheffield .

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze production fluids to identify potential scaling, corrosion, or emulsification issues.
• Develop and implement effective chemical treatment programs to optimize production and asset integrity.
• Conduct laboratory testing and field trials to evaluate new chemical technologies.
• Troubleshoot production chemistry problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Ensure safe handling, storage, and application of all production chemicals according to regulations.

Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in production chemistry, preferably within the oil and gas sector .
• Knowledge of scale, corrosion, emulsion, and hydrate inhibitors.
• Experience with water treatment, fluid analysis, and laboratory testing procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good communication abilities for the Sheffield based role.
