About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Production Chemist to join their operations support team in Sheffield, South Yorkshire . This role is integral to optimizing the performance and efficiency of oil and gas production facilities through chemical management. You will be responsible for selecting, applying, and monitoring production chemicals, troubleshooting production chemistry issues, and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of chemistry principles applied in an operational setting within the oil and gas industry .
Key Responsibilities
- Select, test, and implement production chemicals (e.g., corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, demulsifiers) to optimize production.
- Monitor production fluid chemistry, identifying and resolving issues related to water quality, scaling, and corrosion.
- Conduct laboratory analysis and field testing to evaluate chemical performance and effectiveness.
- Collaborate with production engineers to troubleshoot production challenges and implement solutions.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to chemical usage and discharge.
- Develop and maintain chemical injection strategies and performance tracking systems.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in production chemistry , preferably within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of oilfield production processes and associated chemical challenges.
- Experience with laboratory analysis and interpretation of chemical data.
- Familiarity with corrosion and scale prediction models and chemical treatment programs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an industrial environment in Sheffield .
