This role is ideal for a technically minded designer who understands how great ideas are translated into accurate drawings, specifications and fabrication-ready information while maintaining the original creative intent.
Key Responsibilities

- Produce accurate technical drawings, layouts, elevations, details and fabrication information.
- Collaborate closely with Creative Designers, Project Managers, Engineers, Fabricators and Installation teams.
- Interpret design intent, specifications, 3D models and client requirements and translate them into buildable solutions.
- Develop construction details, materials, finishes, joinery and fabrication methods appropriate to each project.
- Review designs for practicality, manufacturability, installation and overall project requirements.
- Coordinate design information across multiple disciplines and ensure consistency throughout the project.
- Prepare and maintain drawing packages, schedules, specifications and technical documentation.
- Liaise with workshops, suppliers and contractors to resolve production and technical queries.
- Incorporate design revisions and manage drawing updates throughout the production process.
- Support value engineering and identify practical alternatives without compromising the creative vision.
- Assist with material selection, prototypes, mock-ups and sample reviews where required.
- Attend design reviews, production meetings, site visits and installation reviews as necessary.
- Ensure designs meet relevant project, quality, safety and production requirements.
- Work to demanding project programmes while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and presentation.
About You
You will be a highly creative yet technically capable designer with strong experience taking projects from design development through to fabrication and installation. Experience within themed entertainment, exhibitions, experiential design, interiors, architecture, events, scenic fabrication or bespoke manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
You should have:
- Proven experience in Production Design, Technical Design, Scenic Design or a related discipline.
- Rhino is an essential skill required for the role and CNC cutting drawings experience an advantage.
- Strong understanding of fabrication, materials, construction techniques and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent spatial awareness and an eye for proportion, detail and finish.
- Strong technical drawing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Revit or equivalent platforms.
- Ability to interpret and develop 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Strong understanding of design-to-production workflows.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced production environment.
- A practical, problem-solving mindset with exceptional attention to detail.
