About the Role
Are you an experienced, hands-on Interim Shift Manager who excels at both day-to-day team leadership and driving continuous improvement on the factory floor?
Our client is an established manufacturing business with a facility in Redditch (~100 staff), seeking strong operational leaders on an interim basis. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will take total ownership of manufacturing output on your assigned shift. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will play a crucial role in shaping the site’s future efficiency by assisting with process improvement initiatives and factory layout optimisation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Shift Operations & Output: Manage all shop-floor manufacturing activities during shift to ensure target volume and productivity KPIs are met.
* Health & Safety Lead: Drive a zero-harm culture, enforce site safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and maintain compliance.
* Staff Leadership & Management: Motivate, supervise, and coordinate a small, dedicated production team on shift, addressing performance and attendance as needed.
* Quality Assurance: Ensure all products adhere strictly to quality standards and customer specifications, driving root-cause action on defects.
* Continuous Improvement & Projects: Support site-wide CI projects, including floor re-layout strategies, workflow optimization, and waste reduction.
Requirements:
* Proven track record in shift management / production leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification (or equivalent H&S accreditation).
* Lean Manufacturing accreditation (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent CI qualification).
* Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement tools, 5S implementation, and factory layout projects.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to hit the ground running.
What We Offer:
* An opportunity to deliver tangible change through hands-on project work alongside shift operational management.
* High visibility and direct partnership with the Production Manager in a dynamic, close-knit facility
