Production Team Leader

Pay: £15.35 – £16.35 per hour (shift) Location: Hull Job Type: Temporary to Permanent Hours: Mon-Fri 3 shift rotating pattern (6am-2.15pm/10pm-6.15am/2pm-10.15pm)

Kingston Recruitment are looking to recruit an experienced Production Team Leader to join an established manufacturing business. This is an important role supporting production workflow and output, with responsibility for leading a team of Production Operatives and ensuring high standards across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and employee Morale.

The successful candidate will be an organised and proactive leader who can motivate a team, monitor performance and drive continuous improvement within a manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and supporting Production Operatives to achieve production targets and company KPIs.

• Maintaining high standards of 5S, housekeeping and visual management across the shopfloor.

• Monitoring production performance and escalating any risks to delivery.

• Supporting productivity targets and using data to monitor and improve performance.

• Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and leading by example.

• Ensuring company health & safety policies and procedures are followed.

• Carrying out risk assessments and supporting health & safety investigations.

• Reporting incidents, accidents and near misses.

• Ensuring quality procedures and inspections are completed correctly and on time.

• Ensuring production is carried out in accordance with work instructions, works orders and relevant procedures.

• Maintaining full product traceability, including employee stamping, labelling and documentation.

• Supporting 8D problem solving and addressing quality issues.

• Maintaining compliance with ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 standards.

• Supporting MRP control within the moulding process.

• Maintaining effective communication with the production team through GEMBA boards and regular updates.

• Managing works order control and supporting effective production planning.

• Working collaboratively with suppliers, customers and internal departments.

• Minimising scrap and ensuring all production waste is accurately recorded and traceable.

• Identifying training needs and supporting the development of team members.

• Managing absence, timekeeping and weekly timesheets.

• Supporting performance management and employee engagement initiatives.

• Acting as a positive role model and promoting the company's values.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally plastics manufacturing. Experience of mentoring, training and motivating team members. A structured, organised and disciplined approach. Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills. Experience of process adherence, 8Ds and NCRs. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and continuous improvement. Good attention to detail and a methodical approach. The ability to assess risk and react appropriately. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Good IT and computer skills. An understanding of the financial impact of waste and over-consumption.

Experience within a manufacturing environment, together with knowledge of TS16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMP or Six Sigma, would be advantageous.

Relevant qualifications such as BIT Level 2 and IOSH would also be desirable.
