We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to take a leading role on a substantial circa £30million civil engineering and construction project in West London.

This is more than simply an opportunity to deliver one major project.

Our client is an established specialist contractor with an outstanding reputation for tackling technically challenging projects and is looking to further strengthen and develop its civil engineering capability.

The immediate requirement is to lead an 18-month major project in West London, but the longer-term strategy is for the successful individual to become a key figure in the business and potentially lead future civil engineering projects across the group.

For an ambitious Project Manager with a strong heavy civils background, this could therefore represent a significant long-term career opportunity.

The Project

The project is a substantial circa £30m scheme with a significant heavy civil engineering and construction requirement.

We're particularly interested in Project Managers with experience across areas such as:

Piling | Drainage | Infrastructure | Ground Engineering | Earthworks | RC Works | Heavy Civils | Temporary Works | Major Construction

This will be a technically demanding project requiring excellent planning, sequencing, coordination and commercial awareness.

The programme is expected to run for approximately 18 months.

The Role

As Project Manager, you'll take a senior role in the planning, mobilisation and successful delivery of the project.

You'll work closely with the company's Engineering, Commercial and Operational teams, taking ownership of programme, resources, project performance and client relationships.

Responsibilities will include:

Leading the delivery of the circa £30m project

Project planning and programming

*

Developing construction methodologies and sequencing

*

Managing major civil engineering work packages

*

Coordinating piling, drainage and infrastructure works

*

Managing site teams, subcontractors and specialist contractors

*

Working closely with engineering and temporary works teams

*

Managing project interfaces and logistics

*

Client and stakeholder management

*

Health, safety and environmental leadership

*

Monitoring programme, progress and key milestones

*

Working closely with the commercial team on cost and change

*

Risk identification and mitigation

*

Chairing project and progress meetings

*

Maintaining appropriate project reporting

*

Driving quality throughout delivery

*

Managing completion and handover

Although being site based in Southall would be advantageous, there is potentially some flexibility around working arrangements for the right individual.

Your Background

This appointment is aimed at an experienced Project Manager with a genuine civil engineering / heavy construction background.

Demolition experience isn't the primary requirement.

We're much more interested in finding somebody who understands the complexities of delivering significant civil engineering works and can bring that expertise into the wider business.

Ideally, you'll have:

Significant Project Management experience within civil engineering

Experience delivering major multi-million-pound projects

Strong piling experience

*

Drainage and infrastructure experience

*

Earthworks / ground engineering knowledge

*

Experience coordinating complex civil engineering packages

*

Strong temporary works awareness

*

Excellent programming and planning capability

*

Strong commercial awareness

*

Excellent health & safety leadership

*

Experience managing large site teams and subcontractor packages

*

Strong client-facing communication skills

*

The ability to operate confidently at senior management level

We're looking for somebody who can lead, not simply administer a project.

The Bigger Opportunity

This is where the role becomes particularly interesting.

The initial requirement is to successfully deliver the £30m Southall project over approximately 18 months, but the appointment is being made with a much longer-term strategy in mind.

The business has an established reputation for delivering highly complex engineering, deconstruction, remediation and specialist projects, including work across infrastructure, road and rail environments.

They now want to further develop their capability across heavy civil engineering and construction.

For the right individual, there is therefore the opportunity to use Southall as the starting point and ultimately become a key part of the business's future civil engineering strategy.

That could mean progressing from Project Manager on one major scheme to taking a leading role across the company's wider portfolio of civil engineering projects.

Salary & Package

Salary negotiable and dependent upon experience + package.

This is a permanent appointment rather than an 18-month project position.
