Project Manager – Demolition & Enabling Works Central London / City of London Freelance – 12 Months+ Immediate / ASAP Start Competitive Day Rate We are recruiting for an experienced Demolition Project Manager to take responsibility for a complex, live demolition and enabling works project in the City of London. This is a specialist demolition role. You MUST have demonstrable experience managing structural demolition projects, ideally gained working directly for a demolition contractor. Candidates from general construction, new build, fit-out or refurbishment backgrounds without significant demolition experience will not be considered. The project is already live and requires a strong, hands-on Project Manager who can take control of the scheme, quickly understand the programme and methodology, and drive the works through to successful completion. The scheme involves a technically challenging demolition and enabling package within a heavily constrained City of London environment, incorporating structural demolition, extensive temporary works, structural investigations, strip-out, removal of redundant plant, scaffolding, hoists and associated structural alterations.
Key Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of a live demolition project
- Managing and sequencing structural demolition and enabling works
- Managing temporary works, structural propping, scaffolding and hoists
- Reviewing demolition methodologies, RAMS and sequencing
- Managing specialist subcontractors and the site management team
- Programming, short-term planning and monitoring progress against programme
- Coordinating with structural engineers and temporary works designers
- Managing RFIs, design information and technical queries
- Managing complex logistics within a constrained City of London environment
- Chairing progress meetings and reporting to the client and senior management
- Maintaining excellent health & safety standards throughout the works
- Managing stakeholder, neighbouring property and third-party interfaces Essential Experience
- Strong Project Management experience within the demolition industry
- Previous structural demolition project experience is essential
- Experience working for a demolition or specialist enabling works contractor
- Strong understanding of demolition methodology and sequencing
- Good knowledge of temporary works and structural propping
- Experience delivering complex demolition projects in constrained environments
- Experience operating as the No.1 Project Manager responsible for project delivery
- Strong programme, subcontractor and client management skills
- SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid
