Job Description
Our client is seeking a Project Manager to join its construction team in Cambridge. This permanent opportunity involves leading the delivery of a mechanical engineering or MEP package on a large, complex, multi-disciplinary commercial project, from design and procurement through to installation, commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Lead compliance across design, engineering, construction and commissioning activities. Manage the end-to-end delivery programme, including planning, scrutiny, performance monitoring and contingency planning. Develop and maintain effective project and workplace controls throughout delivery. Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of designated work packages, contributing to financial forecasting, cost-value reporting and profit improvement. Coordinate multiple disciplines, interfaces and sequencing requirements across the project. Proactively manage risks and opportunities, ensuring mitigation actions are implemented and commercial impacts are clearly communicated. Drive compliance with quality plans, company procedures and corporate governance standards. Lead teams, support performance management and contribute to the development of project personnel.
Job Requirements:
Strong knowledge and practical experience in mechanical engineering, MEP delivery or mechanical construction. Experience managing large-scale MEP contracts within a collaborative construction environment. Understanding of complex project interfaces, work sequencing, testing and commissioning requirements. Formal health and safety qualifications, including SMSTS as a minimum. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver projects safely, on time and to high-quality standards. Experience in commercial and contractual management, risk management and financial forecasting. Strong understanding of quality assurance, governance and compliance procedures. Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
