Job Description
Project Planner - P6 | Major Civil Engineering Project | North Wales
Long-Term Contract | £50m Civil Engineering Package | Hybrid Working
We're recruiting an experienced Project Planner to join a major civil engineering package on a nationally significant infrastructure scheme in North Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of planning on a £50m self-delivered package, with approximately two years of works remaining. The package includes bulk earthworks, drainage and civil engineering works through to substructure.
We're looking for a Planner who understands how projects are actually built, not just how programmes are produced. Candidates who have progressed from a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer background and understand first principles construction planning will be particularly well suited.
What's on offer?
* Competitive day rate £500 p/day)
* Long-term contract with circa 2 years remaining
* 3 days per week on site / 2 days remote
* Major UK infrastructure project
* Opportunity to influence project delivery on a self-delivered package
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain and update the master programme using Primavera P6.
* Produce detailed construction programmes from first principles, reflecting realistic construction methodologies and sequencing.
* Work closely with operational teams to ensure programmes accurately reflect site progress and delivery strategy.
* Develop short-term look-ahead programmes and recovery plans where required.
* Monitor progress, identify critical path risks and propose practical mitigation measures.
* Carry out programme impact assessments for change and variations.
* Produce progress reports, programme narratives and management dashboards.
* Coordinate programme interfaces between engineering, commercial, temporary works and construction teams.
* Challenge construction methodologies where opportunities exist to improve efficiency or reduce programme risk.
* Attend planning, progress and client meetings, presenting programme updates to senior stakeholders.
* Support tender planning and sequencing for future work packages where required.
We're looking for
* Proven experience as a Project Planner on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
* Strong knowledge of Primavera P6.
* Experience planning earthworks, drainage, highways and/or reinforced concrete and substructure works.
* Previous experience working for a self-delivery civil engineering contractor.
* Strong understanding of construction methodology, engineering constraints and site logistics.
* Ability to produce programmes from first principles rather than simply updating existing schedules.
* Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and support delivery teams.
* Ideally progressed from a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer background, giving you a practical understanding of construction sequencing and production.
If you're a Planner who enjoys working closely with delivery teams and understands how complex civil engineering projects are built from the ground up, then apply and we will be in touch
