Job Description
We’re looking for an ambitious and commercially driven Project Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering some of the most exciting rail and civil engineering projects across Wales. This is an opportunity to take a leading commercial role on projects that genuinely make a difference — from rail infrastructure and stations to bridges, structures, highways, tunnels and environmental schemes. The Role
You’ll take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects and work packages, typically ranging from £500k to £5m.
Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, clients and supply chain partners, you’ll help drive projects from procurement through to final account — ensuring they are commercially successful, contractually compliant and delivered to the highest standards.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead the commercial management of multiple rail and civil engineering projects
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, forecasts and final accounts
- Prepare and monitor CVRs, cost reports and project forecasts
- Manage subcontract procurement, payments and contractual compliance
- Identify and manage change, compensation events, early warnings and commercial risk
- Administer NEC and Network Rail forms of contract
- Work closely with operational teams to monitor cost, progress and performance
- Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
- Lead commercial discussions and negotiate effectively
- Provide commercial insight and challenge throughout the project lifecycle
- Contribute to improving commercial processes, systems and best practice
What We’re Looking For:
You’ll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Project Quantity Surveyor with a background in rail, civil engineering or infrastructure.
We’re particularly interested in people who have:
- Experience managing the commercial aspects of civil engineering projects
- A strong understanding of NEC contracts
- Experience working on rail, structures, highways or infrastructure projects
- Excellent commercial and contractual awareness
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- A proactive, collaborative approach
- A relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification
