Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of two Promoting Attendance Assistants based at Lister Street, University Hospital Crosshouse. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis for 12 months.

Hours

36.00 hours per week worked flexibly to meet service delivery needs. Job share will be considered for this post.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

UK Driving Licence

A UK driving licence is essential for this role.

What You Will Do

You will provide comprehensive and confidential absence management support to line managers and staff across the organisation. You will join an established Promoting Attendance Team where they will focus on ensuring Attendance Management process compliance and progression to formal process determined by triggers set out within the NHS Scotland Workforce Attendance Management Policy with the aim of reducing costs associated with frequent short term sickness absence.

The role will involve audit processes, data gathering and analysis and supporting line managers to undertake formal meetings with a focus on improvement in attendance at work. The ability to work collaboratively with managers, staff side and occupational health are key.

Knowledge, Training And/Or Experience Required For This Post

• Educated to HNC/HND level or equivalent qualification or experience
• Knowledge of NHS Scotland Workforce Attendance Management Policy and experience of its application
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
• Excellent numeracy skills
• IT, Internet and keyboard skills with a knowledge of the full MS Office Suite
• Knowledge of databases and HR information management systems.
• Strong communication skills, oral and written.
• Ability to work confidently with a wide range of people and build relationships within short timescales.
• Influencing and negotiating skills.
• Capacity to be flexible across all areas of work.
