Job Description
Purchasing Administrator – Telford, Permanent, £27,000 – £29,000 per annum, Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week.
We are seeking a proactive and organised Purchasing Administrator to join a busy procurement and materials team supporting a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring purchasing activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and within agreed timescales.
Key Responsibilities
- Process material requirements to support production schedules.
- Obtain competitive pricing and accurate supplier lead times.
- Raise, monitor and expedite purchase orders.
- Build and maintain positive supplier relationships.
- Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules where appropriate – however this is minimal as most suppliers will already have rates agreed.
- Monitor stock levels to support manufacturing requirements while maintaining agreed inventory levels.
- Manage call‑off orders and pricing agreements.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure purchasing activities align with operational deadlines.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
Qualifications
- Methodical individual with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Good commercial awareness and confident negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- A proactive, positive approach to problem‑solving.
- Experience using an ERP system (SAP experience advantageous but not essential).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
- Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn and develop.
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Strong team player with a good work ethic.
- Ability to take ownership and accountability for assigned responsibilities.
