About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and organised Purchasing Controller to join their finance and procurement team in Nottingham . This role is crucial for ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance within the purchasing function, with a strong focus on financial controls and process adherence. You will be responsible for overseeing the procure-to-pay cycle, managing purchase order accuracy, reconciling invoices, and contributing to financial reporting related to procurement spend. This hybrid position allows for collaboration within the office and the flexibility to work remotely, supporting a team committed to maintaining high standards of financial governance in purchasing.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire procure-to-pay process, ensuring accuracy and compliance from requisition to payment.
- Manage the creation and approval workflow of purchase orders, verifying against budgets and contracts.
- Reconcile supplier invoices with purchase orders and delivery receipts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Monitor and control procurement spend against departmental budgets, flagging variances.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to procurement activities and cost analysis.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies governing purchasing and financial transactions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a finance, accounts payable, or procurement control role.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliation processes, and procure-to-pay cycles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, with excellent data analysis skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant professional qualification or ongoing study (e.g., AAT, ACCA) is advantageous.
