What we’re looking for:
- Experience in control testing, including design and operating effectiveness assessments.
- Solid understanding of risk and control frameworks, including the Three Lines Model and internal control concepts.
- Ability to execute testing with accuracy, objectivity, and a disciplined assurance mindset.
- Strong analytical and data evaluation skills, including root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, able to summarise complex findings clearly for different audiences.
- Awareness of assurance documentation including test scripts, walkthroughs, and formal reports.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational discipline.
- Experience in Financial Services, pensions knowledge beneficial but not mandatory.
- Experience working within a controls or assurance function.
What you'll be doing:
The Quality, Controls & Regulatory Specialist is responsible for delivering robust 1st line operational assurance, combining control testing, quality assurance (QA), attestation activity, and calibration responsibilities into a multi-skilled role.
You will conduct comprehensive design effectiveness (DE) and operating effectiveness (OE) testing, delivers structured QA sampling, runs calibration sessions, and provide real-time operational feedback. You will assess whether controls and quality standards are effectively designed, operating as intended, and aligned to regulatory, risk and policy requirements.
You provide independent, evidence-based assurance across operational processes, identify weaknesses or emerging risks, recommend improvements, and support control owners and operational teams in strengthening control maturity and overall quality.
How you’ll help:
- Perform design effectiveness reviews across operational processes.
- Conduct operating effectiveness testing using sampling and evidence validation.
- Proactively challenge the design and ongoing relevance of frameworks, identifying areas where activity should evolve.
