Vickerstock are working with an established engineering and manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Quality Manager for their Tyrone operation.
The company designs and builds heavy machinery and this position will take responsibility for quality across the manufacturing operation, leading and developing the Quality team and driving continued improvement across products, processes and suppliers.
This opportunity could suit an established Quality Manager or a strong Lead Quality Engineer who has experience managing a Quality Management System and leading other quality personnel and is ready to take the next step. Reporting to Director level, you will have responsibility for the development and continuous improvement of quality across the business.
Key Responsibilities for this Quality Manager position
- Oversight of the Quality Management System and maintain ISO 9001 compliance
- Lead, support and develop a smaller / experienced Quality team
- Manage quality throughout the manufacturing process
- Develop quality procedures, inspection standards and control plans
- Manage supplier quality performance and improvement activity
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Establish and monitor quality KPIs and drive defect reduction
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Procurement to improve product and process quality
- Drive Continuous Improvement and develop a proactive quality culture focused on prevention rather than detection
Essential Criteria for this Quality Manager position
- Minimum of 3 years' experience within a Lead / Senior Quality Engineering or Quality Management position in a manufacturing or engineering environment
- Minimum of 2 years' experience leading or providing direction to other quality personnel
- Previous hands-on experience managing and improving a Quality Management System and a strong working knowledge of ISO 9001
- Experience of supplier quality, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Strong Continuous Improvement and problem-solving experience
- Experience within heavy machinery, engineering, metal manufacturing or another complex manufacturing environment
