Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in Newcastle upon Tyne . You will be responsible for managing all costs relating to construction projects, from initial calculations to final figures. This role involves ensuring that projects are completed within financial objectives, accurately forecasting future costs, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and contractors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills and a thorough understanding of construction contracts and commercial management within the building sector, contributing to the financial success of our ongoing ventures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit tenders, bills of quantities, and contract documentation.
• Monitor and control project costs, managing budgets and forecasting financial performance.
• Negotiate with contractors and suppliers on contract terms and variations.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and identify potential cost overruns or savings.
• Prepare and submit valuations and final accounts for projects.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage commercial risks effectively.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Solid understanding of construction contracts, procurement, and financial management.
• Proficiency in using cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
