Overview
Quantity Surveyor
As a Quantity Surveyor at Johnson Controls, you will take ownership of the commercial delivery of projects from contract award through to final account, driving profitability and protecting the business from risk. You will work closely with Sales and Projects teams, providing expert commercial and contractual guidance across a diverse portfolio of projects. Reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be accountable for key projects within your region, influencing business performance, customer satisfaction, and long-term growth.
What You Will Do
- Manage the full commercial lifecycle of projects from award through to completion.
- Administer contracts in line with company policies and procedures.
- Lead variation management, ensuring timely agreement and maximisation of project value.
- Prepare, submit and agree final accounts to achieve positive financial outcomes.
- Identify, develop and substantiate claims and entitlement opportunities.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
- Escalate commercial risks and implement corrective actions where required.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve commercial challenges.
- Drive continuous improvement and best practice across commercial processes.
What We Are Looking For
- Required: Experience as a Quantity Surveyor or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
- Proven track record on projects ranging from £50k to £10m.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to manage risk effectively.
- Experience within Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) environments.
- Ability to lead and manage complex commercial projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Strong problem-solving capability and ability to make independent decisions.
- Preferred: Experience across disciplines such as HVAC&R, Security, Fire Detection/Suppression, or BMS/Controls.
- RICS accreditation or working towards it.
