Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join their esteemed construction team in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, UK . You will play a critical role in managing construction costs, from initial feasibility studies to final account settlement. This position requires a strong understanding of contract law, procurement, and cost management principles within the construction sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring financial viability and profitability across a range of construction projects, working closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on project financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all costs relating to construction projects, from initial tender stage to final account.
• Prepare bills of quantities, tenders, and contract documents .
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for potential projects.
• Negotiate and agree contracts, manage variations, and assess claims.
• Monitor project expenditure against budget and implement cost control measures.
• Liaise with clients, designers, and contractors to resolve financial and contractual issues.

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of JCT and other standard forms of contract.
• Excellent knowledge of cost management, procurement , and contractual processes.
• Proficiency in cost management software and MS Excel.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
