Quantity Surveyor – Highways / Infrastructure – St Albans

Salary/Package: £55,000 – £60,000 + Company Car + Pension + Healthcare Plan + 2 - 3 Days WFH

O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with an established and growing infrastructure contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in St Albans.

The successful candidate will take commercial responsibility across multiple projects delivered through a £20m highways framework, with individual projects ranging from approximately £500k – £2m.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a role offering genuine responsibility, variety and long-term stability. You will have significant ownership across multiple projects while working as part of an established commercial team.

The role offers a strong overall package, including a company car, healthcare plan and 2–3 days' working from home, providing a good balance between site, office and home working.

Responsibilities

Taking commercial responsibility for multiple highways projects ranging from £500k – £2m Commercially managing projects from procurement through to final account Procuring and managing subcontract packages from tender through to completion Preparing subcontract enquiries, tender analysis, negotiations and recommendations for award Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts Monitoring project costs, forecasting expenditure and maintaining accurate commercial reporting Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate cost control measures Working closely with project managers, site teams, clients and subcontractors to ensure successful project delivery Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners Supporting the wider commercial team across the £20m framework

Requirements

Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting, civil engineering or infrastructure environment Previous experience working on highways, roads or other infrastructure projects would be advantageous Experience commercially managing multiple projects and subcontract packages Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation and communication skills Experience with valuations, variations, forecasting and final accounts Ability to operate autonomously while working effectively as part of a wider project team Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously Based within a commutable distance of St Albans If you're a Quantity Surveyor looking for a stable, long-term opportunity within an established infrastructure contractor which offers significant room for progression, with responsibility across a £20m highways framework and the flexibility of 2 - 3 days' home working, please contact Ned Scott-Mends on (phone number removed), or send your CV via email at .
