Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will lead the CT team in the delivery of diagnostic and specialist CT examinations across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and cancer pathways. They will be responsible for ensuring the efficient day-to-day management of the service, supporting staff development, maintaining quality and governance standards, and driving service improvement initiatives.
- Perform and supervise a wide range of CT examinations, including complex and contrast-enhanced procedures.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality diagnostic images and maintain excellent standards of patient care.
- Promote radiation safety and dose optimisation in compliance with IR(ME)R and IRR17 regulations.
- Manage the day-to-day operational running of the CT service, ensuring appropriate staffing and service provision.
- Coordinate staff rotas and workforce deployment to meet service demands
- Ensure effective utilisation of CT resources to maximise efficiency and patient throughput
- Lead and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and service redesign projects
- Ensure adherence to Trust policies, professional standards, and statutory regulations.
- Lead on clinical governance, quality assurance, and risk management activities within CT
- Support the education, training, and competency assessment of radiographers, assistant practitioners, apprentices, and students
- Develop effective working relationships with Radiologists, clinicians, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams

Essential criteria
- MSc, BSc Diagnostic Radiography or relevant diploma
- HCPC Registration
- Postgraduate qualification in CT imaging
Desirable criteria
- Leadership or management qualification
Experience

- Significant post-registration experience within CT
- Demonstrable leadership/supervisory experience

Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
It is the policy of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost for their DBS certificate. The method of payment for this is via salary deduction from your first month's pay on commencement with the Trust. The DBs check will be undertaken during the pre-employment check screening.

New Starters - Probationary Period
For any new employees commencing employment with North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, you will be subject to satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period. Please note that internal applications and individuals that are appointed to fixed term appointments of less than 6 months duration are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or a bank member of staff).
