Refrigeration Engineer Location: Various locations across Yorkshire Salary: Up to £49,000 basic + Overtime Call-Out: 1 in 4 rota Hours: 40 hours per week
The Opportunity An established and expanding refrigeration business is looking for an experienced Commercial Refrigeration Engineer to join its technical team. The role will focus on a portfolio of supermarket and food retail sites, making this an ideal opportunity for an engineer with solid CO₂ refrigeration experience who wants long-term job security, regular overtime opportunities and the chance to develop their technical skills further.
What You'll Be Doing You will be responsible for keeping commercial refrigeration systems operating reliably across a range of supermarket sites, including:
Servicing, maintaining and repairing commercial refrigeration equipment. Working on CO₂ packs, remote packs, integral units, cold rooms and associated refrigeration plant. Carrying out detailed fault finding and diagnostics, identifying and rectifying issues efficiently. Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) alongside reactive breakdown repairs. Taking part in the 1 in 4 call-out rota. Producing a consistently high standard of technical work while maintaining excellent customer service. What We're Looking For To be considered, you'll need:
Proven experience working as a Commercial Refrigeration Engineer within the supermarket or food retail sector. Strong practical knowledge of CO₂ refrigeration systems and associated controls. The ability to independently undertake servicing, repairs and fault finding. Valid F-Gas Category 1 qualification (essential). CO₂ refrigeration training and experience (essential). City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, or an equivalent qualification. A full UK driving licence. Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-facing approach.
