Join Our Catering Team
We are looking for friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Relief Catering Assistants to join our team at the White Hall Centre, near Buxton. This is a flexible relief position, ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy catering environment and wants to play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality meals and services.
Working as part of our Children's Services team, you will help prepare and serve meals, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and contribute to creating a welcoming dining experience for customers.
About The Role
As a Relief Catering Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operation of the catering service under the direction of the kitchen lead. Your duties will include food preparation, serving meals, setting up dining areas and ensuring kitchen and dining facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation and simple cooking tasks.
- Support the serving of meals to customers.
- Prepare and clear dining areas, including setting up and dismantling dining furniture.
- Wash up and clean after meal services.
- Clean kitchens, dining areas, equipment, utensils and furniture to required standards.
- Replenish stocks and supplies in dining areas.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety requirements at all times.
- Work effectively as part of a team to deliver an efficient catering service.

- Understand and follow safe working practices.
- Have good communication and customer service skills.
- Have a flexible and positive approach to work.
- Have an awareness of food hygiene, food storage and health and safety requirements.
- Take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a production kitchen or food service environment.
- Basic Food Hygiene qualification.
- NVQ Level 1 or equivalent qualification.
- Awareness of manual handling and food safety practices.
