About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Remote Automotive Embedded Software Developer to join their innovative engineering team, supporting operations based in Cardiff . This fully remote position allows you to contribute to the development of cutting-edge automotive software from anywhere in the UK. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and testing embedded software for various vehicle systems, focusing on enhancing functionality, performance, and safety. The role requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, comfortable working independently and collaborating with a distributed team. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop embedded software for automotive ECUs, infotainment systems, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) using C/C++.
• Implement and optimize real-time operating system (RTOS) components, drivers, and middleware for embedded automotive applications.
• Develop and execute comprehensive unit tests and integration tests for embedded software modules to ensure code quality and functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers and hardware developers, via virtual channels to define software requirements and resolve technical challenges.
• Participate in code reviews, adhering to established coding standards and best practices for embedded systems development.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues identified during development, testing, or in post-production phases, providing timely and effective solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in embedded software development, with a strong focus on automotive applications.
• Proficiency in C programming and embedded systems, with a good understanding of C++ desirable.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded development tools.
• Familiarity with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, or Automotive Ethernet.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to work effectively in a fully remote, collaborative environment.
