Remote Automotive Powertrain Software Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a talented Remote Automotive Powertrain Software Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced engine and electric vehicle control systems. This fully remote role involves designing, implementing, and testing software for sophisticated powertrain control units (PCUs). You will work closely with hardware engineers and system integrators to deliver high-performance, efficient, and reliable powertrain solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for automotive powertrain control modules, including fuel injection, ignition, emissions control, and electric motor control.
• Implement control algorithms and calibration strategies for optimal engine or electric motor performance and efficiency.
• Perform software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and debugging.
• Collaborate with calibration engineers to fine-tune powertrain parameters and ensure compliance with performance and regulatory targets.
• Write clear, concise, and well-documented code adhering to automotive software development standards (e.g., MISRA C/C++).
• Analyze vehicle testing data and diagnostics to identify software-related issues and propose solutions.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in developing embedded software for automotive powertrains.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN).
• Knowledge of powertrain control strategies, engine dynamics, or electric vehicle powertrains.
