About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Chemical Process Engineer to join their globally distributed team on a fully remote basis. This position is integral to driving forward process innovation and efficiency for advanced materials and specialty chemicals. You will leverage your expertise in process design, simulation, and optimization to support projects from concept to commercialization, working collaboratively with international teams. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, adept at managing complex projects remotely, and passionate about developing cutting-edge, sustainable chemical processes within a leading research and development organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of new chemical processes and optimize existing ones using advanced simulation and modeling techniques.
- Perform process design calculations, equipment selection, and develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Conduct techno-economic evaluations and feasibility studies for new process initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with R&D scientists, project managers, and manufacturing teams in a virtual environment.
- Ensure all designs adhere to the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and company policies.
- Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical support remotely to manufacturing sites.
Requirements
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical process design, scale-up, and optimization.
- Proficiency with process simulation software such as Aspen Plus , HYSYS, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, and reaction kinetics.
- Proven experience managing projects and collaborating effectively in a remote team setting.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a strong ability to document and present technical information clearly.
