Remote Chemical Process Safety Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Remote Chemical Process Safety Engineer to join their global team, supporting operations primarily in the Sunderland region and beyond. This vital role involves ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained across all our chemical facilities, regardless of geographical location. You will conduct rigorous safety reviews, develop and implement safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on risk management and hazard mitigation. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) systems and procedures.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, performing root cause analysis and developing preventative strategies.
• Provide expert technical support and guidance on process safety matters to engineering and operational teams.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices in chemical process safety.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Significant experience (5+ years) specifically in chemical process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR ) and industry standards.
• Proven ability to conduct and lead PHA methodologies.
• Excellent analytical skills and experience with risk assessment techniques.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for effective remote work .
