Remote Chemical Process Safety Specialist

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Remote Chemical Process Safety Specialist to provide expert guidance and oversight for their chemical operations, supporting teams globally, including those based near Plymouth . This crucial role involves ensuring the highest standards of process safety are maintained through robust management systems, rigorous risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work independently and collaboratively with various engineering and operational teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate process-related risks, fostering a proactive safety culture irrespective of geographical location, and driving excellence in chemical safety management.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and audit process safety management systems and procedures.
• Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) using various methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, What-If).
• Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk reduction strategies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant process safety regulations and industry standards.
• Provide technical expertise and support for process safety aspects of capital projects and modifications.
• Develop and deliver training on process safety principles and best practices to site personnel.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on safety.
• 10+ years of dedicated experience in process safety engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of global process safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
• Expertise in conducting PHAs and risk assessments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders remotely.
