About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and innovative Remote Data Scientist specializing in Energy Analytics . This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be instrumental in extracting actionable insights from vast datasets related to oil and gas exploration, production, and market trends. Leveraging advanced statistical and machine learning techniques, you will develop predictive models, optimize operational efficiency, and identify new business opportunities for our client. This role demands a strong quantitative background and the ability to translate complex data findings into clear, strategic recommendations for diverse stakeholders across the energy sector, contributing to data-driven decision-making from your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and deploy machine learning models for predictive maintenance, production optimization, and risk assessment.
- Analyze large, complex datasets from various sources (e.g., seismic, production, financial) to identify trends and patterns.
- Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to measure the impact of model deployments.
- Collaborate with domain experts, engineers, and business analysts to define project requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
- Communicate findings and recommendations effectively through visualizations and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Data Scientist , with a strong focus on the energy sector .
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a proven ability to work independently in a remote setting.
