Remote Electrical Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated Remote Electrical Systems Engineer to join their dispersed and dynamic engineering team, supporting projects based in Cardiff and beyond. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the UK. You will be responsible for designing, analysing, and implementing electrical systems for a range of innovative products and infrastructure, contributing significantly to the technical direction of our projects. This role is ideal for an independent, self-motivated engineer who excels in a virtual collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality electrical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, wiring harnesses, and system architectures for new product development.
• Conduct detailed electrical simulations and analyses to ensure system performance, safety, and compliance.
• Specify electrical components, manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), and liaise with suppliers.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, via virtual communication tools.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing and testing phases, troubleshooting electrical issues remotely.
• Document design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports thoroughly.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of electrical design processes and standards for remote operations.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in electrical system design, preferably with experience in at least one of our core project areas.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink).
• Strong understanding of power electronics, embedded systems, and control systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote working environment.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines without direct supervision.
