Remote Energy Trading Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and analytical Remote Energy Trading Analyst to join their market operations team. This fully remote position is based within the UK, allowing you to contribute to dynamic energy trading strategies from anywhere. You will be responsible for analysing market data, identifying trading opportunities, and supporting the execution of trading strategies across various energy commodities. This role requires a strong quantitative background, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of energy market dynamics. You will work closely with senior traders and risk managers to optimise portfolio performance and mitigate market risks.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse real-time and historical energy market data, including prices, volumes, and weather patterns, to identify trading opportunities.
• Develop and implement quantitative models to forecast market trends and support trading decisions.
• Monitor energy markets across the UK and Europe, reporting on significant price movements and market news.
• Support the trading desk in executing trades and managing open positions in various energy markets (e.g., power, gas, carbon credits).
• Conduct post-trade analysis to evaluate trading performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure compliance with trading limits and policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 2+ years of experience in energy trading, market analysis, or a related financial role.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills , with proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
• In-depth knowledge of energy markets (power, gas, renewables) and trading instruments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively independently and as part of a remote team.
