Remote Forest Conservation Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced Forest Conservation Officer to join their team, operating entirely remotely from Bristol . This vital role will focus on developing and implementing strategies to protect and enhance forest biodiversity and ecological integrity across their managed landscapes. You will be instrumental in monitoring conservation outcomes, engaging with stakeholders, and ensuring that all forestry activities align with the highest standards of environmental stewardship and sustainability, contributing significantly to the preservation of natural habitats and the ecological health of woodlands from a distance.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage forest conservation plans and projects focused on biodiversity enhancement and habitat restoration.
• Monitor the ecological health and status of forest ecosystems, including rare and protected species.
• Ensure compliance with conservation legislation, agreements, and best practice guidelines.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and advise on mitigation measures for forestry operations.
• Engage with local communities, landowners, and conservation groups to promote sustainable forest management.
• Prepare reports, proposals, and educational materials on forest conservation topics.

Requirements

• Degree in Conservation Biology, Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in forest conservation or environmental management.
• Strong understanding of UK biodiversity, habitats, and conservation legislation.
• Experience in ecological monitoring, data analysis, and report writing.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage projects effectively in a remote setting.
