About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Remote Forest Ecologist to join their innovative team and contribute to the sustainable management and conservation of forest ecosystems globally. Operating from a fully remote capacity, you will conduct in-depth ecological research, assess biodiversity, and develop science-based strategies for forest health and resilience within the agriculture and forestry sector . This role is crucial for understanding and mitigating threats to forest environments, and for promoting best practices in ecological stewardship. You will work with cutting-edge research tools and collaborate with a network of environmental scientists and conservationists.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct remote sensing and GIS analysis to map forest types, assess habitat quality, and monitor changes in forest cover.
- Develop and implement ecological monitoring protocols to track biodiversity, invasive species, and forest health indicators.
- Analyze ecological data to inform forest management decisions, conservation strategies, and restoration efforts.
- Prepare scientific reports, peer-reviewed publications, and presentations on forest ecology research findings.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on ecological impact assessments and conservation project planning.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Forest Ecology, Ecology, Biology, or a related environmental science field.
- Proven experience in forest ecosystem research, including field and laboratory techniques.
- Strong proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical analysis tools.
- Experience with remote sensing data analysis for ecological applications is highly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific information in a remote work environment .
